About the artwork
This chariot racing poster reproduces an American circus lithograph published in Detroit in 1891 by the Calvert Lithographing Company. Two teams of horses race across a large arena while their drivers guide the chariots at high speed. Spectators fill the stands, and clouds of dust make the competition feel especially intense. The original was created as circus advertising during the late nineteenth century. Its wide composition, energetic scene and detailed illustration make this reproduction an eye-catching choice for living rooms, studies or interiors featuring horses and historical art.
