A uniformed keeper feeds lions through the bars of their cage, while elephants, giraffes and other animals can be seen behind the crowd of visitors. The print bears the name of the Calvert Lithographing Company of Detroit, a firm known for producing colourful commercial and circus lithographs during this period. The many figures and animals give the artwork plenty to discover without relying on exaggerated decoration.
