About the artwork
This Hercules print features Hendrick Goltzius’s celebrated engraving Hercules and Telephos, created in 1592 after one of the most famous ancient Roman sculptures in the Vatican. The work depicts Hercules holding his son Telephos while wearing the lion skin, combining classical mythology with the remarkable engraving technique for which Goltzius became renowned.
Digitally restored from a historic original, this artwork preserves the rich detail and dramatic shading of the Renaissance engraving. Its timeless black and white palette makes it an excellent choice for a study, library, home office or living room, especially in classic, traditional or minimalist interiors.
